Proportional Brake Controller for Single and Tandem Axle Tow Vehicles
Proportional Brake Controller provides smooth stops for single and tandem axle tow vehicles and automatically monitors and measures tow vehicle deceleration. These units have roller style gain control for easy tuning to meet the systems braking requirements. The manual braking slide control lever overrides gain setting for full power emergency braking and activates trailer brake lights for added safety. LED indicator light intensifies as braking power increases and warns of short circuits. Our units have 5 year warranty.
Brake control wiring harnesses are different for GM, Ford and Dodge. Our harnesses use simple quick connect three foot leads. This allows attaching to existing harnesses on the trailer or for a new installation by the customer. Follow the instructions packaged with the Proportional Brake Controller and instructions for the existing single or tandem axle brake assembly.
In the event the trailer breaks away from the vehicle, severing the electrical connection, the proportional brake controller will automacially lock the brakes to stop a run away trailer.
Simply unplugging the connection to the vehicle to lock the trailer brakes for parking purposes is not advised. The battery in the controller is only designed for emergency stops and would be drained in a few minutes, allowing the brakes to dis-engage and the trailer would begin to roll off if the trailer is parked on a grade.
